NewStore

Kaj Kandler joined NewStore Inc. in 2016 as Director of Technical Enablement and Integrations. He led the documentation team and a team for integrating external systems with the NewStore platform.

In 2017 he moved to Germany and was employed by NewStore GmbH, based in Berlin. He continued his work on Integrations. Kaj Kandler was responsible for the development of APIs to integrate external systems with the NewStore multi-channel commerce platform. The largest project was integrating with Demandware. He continued to lead the documentation team and took on responsibilities for managing the teams for the shopping cart. Later he also managed the team for the financial transactions.

Kaj Kandler restructured some of the development teams from integrated end-to-end teams to a dedicated front-end team for the mobile store app and two back-end teams for financial transactions and the shopping cart.

In 2020 Kaj Kandler left his leadership position and joined the financial transactions team as Senior Software Developer.

In 2021 Mr. Kandler left NewStore to pursue new endeavors.

Black Duck Software

Kaj Kandler started working for Black Duck Software as a contractor. His role was that of an open-source consultant. He performed open-source software audits for third parties.

Mr. Kandler also created custom integrations for clients between Black Duck's open-source discovery platform and client applications.

Kaj Kandler joined Black Duck Software as an Integration Manager. He managed the project to develop an API for the core knowledge base of Black Duck Software. This knowledge base contains over 1 million open source projects. He and his team also developed an integration between Black Duck's software platform and Jenkins. This integration automated open-source discovery into the build pipeline.

Kaj Kandler left Black Duck Software in 2016.

Conficio

2013, Kaj Kandler started doing business as Conficio. He developed Plan-B a technology for using screen recordings to create software documentation. Plan-B allowed streaming the recordings over very low bandwidth internet connections and to embed them into websites. In 2013 many still used the Internet through 56kb/s modems and phone lines. In 2013 a cable modem with 1 Mbit/s was just emerging. Besides the development and marketing of this product, Kaj Kandler did consulting work.

Skyva International

Kaj Kandler joined Skyva in 1997 as one of the first employees and as an investor. He was responsible for the quality assurance of the Skyva supply chain optimization model.

After the sale to ABB, Kaj Kandler left Skyva International in 2022.

SAP

Kaj Kandler joined SAP in 1990. He started in the Enterprise Resource Planning department. There he developed the first graphical user interfaces for the new R/3. Namely, he developed a control station with a graphical view of the sequence of jobs assigned to every production unit on a shop floor.

Kaj Kandler further developed a program to optimize (minimize) the change-over times. The program used genetic algorithms an early form of artificial intelligence (AI).

Kaj Kandler joint in 1996 a new development group. This group developed a new product for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). In 1997, Kaj Kandler transferred to SAP Technology, Inc. a US subsidiary of SAP. There he supported the rollout of Environmental, Health & Safety in the USA.

Data Science Bootcamp

In 2023 Kaj Kandler completed the Data Science Bootcamp at WBS Coding School. The bootcamp included a 15-week curriculum on data science, programming, and statistics. It covered the entire life cycle of data science from data gathering, data merging, and data cleaning, to modeling for statistical insights and predictions. Furthermore, it included the training of models, the validation of prediction accuracy, and the presentation of data to make the results accessible to everyone.

Diplom Informatik - Computer Science Degree

Kaj Kandler studied from 1990 - 1996 computer science at the University Fridericiana Karlsruhe (now Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)), He was awarded a degree of "Diplom Informatiker" (equiv. Master of Computer Science). Kaj Kandler studied as a minor "Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Business).

Kaj Kandler wrote his master's thesis at the FZI: Forschungszentrum Informatik in Karlsruhe. He did his research for the thesis at the Porsche AG Weissach.
